Well? Let's get those donations coming in people!

[Tumbleweed rolls across the screen]

I don't like the looks of this at all. No one else has anything to be thankful for? Can't skip a couple of trips to Starbucks?

Well I donated. Maybe a bunch of people did but didn't say anything.

My sister works for a non-profit in Greece, and she tells me about all the retired folks living on severely limited incomes - a fraction of the Social Security benefits in the U.S. - and how they call in and donate 20 euros every month, even though that's probably close to 10% of their monthly income.

This is the story I think of every time I'm hating something in my life - job, personal crap, someone bumped into me on the street - and I think to myself, "There's millions of kids born in s&@%holes, who live very short lives of disease and misery, I'm freaking blessed with the best freaking problems in the world."

So every time you're feeling depressed, instead of "retail therapy", take those soon-to-be-worthless dollars and give them to someone who might save a life, make someone walk again, or cure a disease, instead of upgrading your freaking iPod, you spoiled f&#$ers.

If old folks making squat can do it for a worthy cause, you f&$%ers can, too.

Sorry for the rant, but people need a kick in the pants, and in these parts, it has to be twice as powerful to get through the padding.

Come on folks!

I knew it, there's just a lot of folks who really like Brian, and don't want him to go away, that's it!

Should I change my tack? Fifty more donations, and I stay? ;)

I think the "Brian should stay"s are ahead right now, so I'd go with that one.

I just donated through Paypal. If the "Brian stays" or "Brian goes" isn't enough incentive, how about a photo of Brian that erases a bit of clothing with each donation? Or maybe adds a bit. I really don't know what he looks like, so which ever works more. Sorry, my brains not working. I have a cold and can't sleep.

I think that with each donation, we'll allow a member to cast a vote for "stay" or "go". :D

I'm almost done with her hat so I checked out the myspace page again- she's freakin' walking! With a walker and some helpers for locking her knees, but seriously walking. Have a look!

Thanksgiving is a week away. Where is the flurry of activity I'm hoping for?

Give me the Igor thingy. I sent her some money but only so i could get the Igor thingy.

Not because her story touched me deeply and not because it made me cry to see her walking on the YouTube video and not because I think she's tougher than a Waffle House steak. And not because she proved she's a champion in more ways than one.

I did it for the Igor thingy.

John

I totally see your point. Enjoy your Igor. :thumb:

And if you see this thread still active after November, blame Tara. My office is covered with autographed posters and photos of cyclists. But hers is the only signed with "Never give up". If she won't, I won't.

Thanks! I've got some links spread out over other sites too, but this one is the only one where I get some feedback on donations. It's good to see members here chipping in. :thumb:

Donated, just because I can't bear to see Brian like this.
That, and for fond memories of her tearing it up on a Yeti. :D

So I wanted to bring this back up.......

Talked with Tara last week via MySpace and wanted to let you all know that she is doing great. Has been walkin some and has been racing her hand bike and winning! So thanks for all the kind words. She really appreciates them. And keep donating! This time next year she may be peddling a Yeti again..... :thumb:

Tell the truth - she's been partying and enjoying life. I saw the skydiving video.
