Hello all. I am new here and I have a weird question. I bought one of those cheap cycle computers and it says to mount the sensor 1mm to the magnet. Well the closest I can get is 2 cm . My question is, can I use a larger magnet and have it work at a greater distance than 1mm ? Thank you all !!!

it should be totally possible to do less than 2cm. in practice i find about 5mm plenty enough to activate the sensor. try to mount the sensor inside the fork with electrical tape to get it in nice and close.

Ususlly you can move it up or down the fork leg to get the required spacing.

agree with johnny0 and wmodavis...should be easy to get the correct spacing. kwh3rd if you have a special case do you think you could take a picture and post it? That may help us help you diagnose/solve the problem.

1mm is possible. Try the sensor on the right fork and the magnet on a left spoke, and adjust both while spinning the wheel until you get a signal.
