Commuting - A short Video of my commute :)

The quality is not the greatest...but I just changed my route around. I went from this

To this...now it is the BEST part of my commute. The new route has extended my ride another 2km, but it''s well worth it. Sorry for the poor quality. I was holding the camera in my hands... When I get a chance to mount a camera, i'll take another video. The scenery is really good.

Yikes...lol I think I'd rather be on the road after seeing all those obstacles/safety hazards on the path. The road actually looked like a nice one to ride on. Pretty clear from the lane width that motorists have to change lanes to pass. What's the speed limit there?

wow, that scenery is amazing. I would love being able to ride in that kind of country on a daily basis.

That road is not as wide as it appears...speed limit is roughly 60-70km/hr. Not all cars give the required space. They race around you etc. It just so happens when I took that video shot it was a nice day. The other path is fairly clear, what you seemed to see as obstacles was just mud trails.

Im sure San Diego has MUCH better scenery than what I ride through. It is incredible and I do love it...but com'mon... you can't compare central Canada to SAN DIEGO. You have the PACIFIC OCEAN on your doorstep.

I vote for the new path. I vote for whatever is more fun for the commuter. In case of the OP it seems to be the path, so hurray to the path.

The Cooksville path looks great!

Passing all those car lots on the other route is kinda depressing, as well the cars zipping by you at a billion miles per second is terrifying. Was that Dixie Road?

I would like a path like that for my commute. I ride on a path, but it has more than 10 stop signs in just a few miles

Hey there, I always knew of the cooksville trail....the problem is that it is a trail that doesn't lead anywhere. In the sense that is is not connected to any other trail or bike lane. What I did discover last week through looking at a map was a few side streets that take me from my house to the trail, to a couple more side streets, to another trail and to my work.

These suburban side streets provide the connectivity I need to allow me to ride the trail. Otherwise, it's just main arterial roads (like the one in the video) to side streets and then MUP.

Where is the cooksville trail? I am by Mavis/Eglington would love to ride that!

That looks great! Is it open to ride after dark? What a great night ride that would be with a full moon too.

I'd trade my street route for that any day.

Their is some talk of a MUP along a creek that runs behind my neighborhood. If it doesn't run all the way to my hood it wouldn't be worth it but if it does connect to my hood it would actually be no longer then the street route and it might actually be faster since it will have less hills and possibly no traffic lights or cross streets to deal with. Keeping my fingers crossed.

As much as I like riding on the roads, I must say that the path looks amazing. That is, until it gets overrun by double-wide stroller mommas.

Yeah the pacific is great, but i've always preferred the woods to the beach. I'd probably be someplace like colorado if my in-state tuition wasn't for CA. Also, I have always been kinda a loner preferring quiet secluded places to get lost in :) Plus I've always liked Canadian scenery.

Unfortionately San Diego isn't really the open place I prefer but it has its good sides as well.
