Northeast - Long Island Expressway Group Ride

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I always see a group ride going by the Long Island Expressway service road at around noon at Community Drive.
Today I finally asked them where they meet up at, and I half expected to get to some info from them since the light was red. All I got was Prospect Park, no meet up time. Being that it is Sunday, they ate the light since there was not a car in sight......
I want to tag-a-long on this ride.... Do I have to stalk these guys some more to get more info, or does anybody know what club that was?

Going east or west ?.
There's the infamous "triangle ride" that leaves at 8:30 AM from Little Neck Parkway at the E Service Rd. Often does 60 miles or more during the summer, thus you might be seeing the finish about that time, if it's west bound.
The meeting place is just west of where LNP meets the LIE, on the south side of the LIE. Fast group, generally Kissena Cycling Club racing group ride - AA/Open pace - +20 av.
Other group rides use the LIE as well, on occasion - Long Island Bike Club, Massapequa Bike Club , Huntington Bike Club.

"noon at Community Drive... prospect park"
I would say you saw guys finishing the last part of the Triangle Ride. Eclectic mix of strong riders from all over.
These guys said they met at Prospect Park....
Does the triangle ride meet at PP or LNP?
They were headed east bound.

Noon, eastbound on Sunday is not the Triangle ride.
8:30 out out LNP and LIE is the Triangle ride.

What does +20 mean, does it mean just above 20, or 25, or just under 30? Not tying to be difficult, just trying to see if it's worth the effort to make it there.

Meeting point is in a triangle (would-be park?) on the EB L.I.E. service road one block west of Little Neck Parkway. Have never noticed a group inbound to there from anyplace, so assume that the triangle is the start/finish.
Cannot speak with accuracy about their speed, but they are way the heck faster than me!

Sorry for the attitude
The speed varies on time of year, what local races are pulling off the faster folks, etc...
I have done 22 mph avg. rides in mid-summer as well as rides that saw speeds along the LIE stretch hitting 32-35 mph, up to about Jericho at the service road, then dropped down to 22-25 to Rt 25A, where a lot of folks turned west up past the Fish Hatchery. Then the hills cause the ride to break off into splinter groups, depending on how many, and distance people want to do. It's a very show and go ride. It's also been a while since I've ridden this ride.
My advise is to hookup at LNP/LIE some morning when you are feeling frisky and either get dropped early, hang in for a while or stay in the whole distance, then try it for a few weekends to get the feel of the pace and get to know the riders.
