I don't need no stinkin' fenders, I got my wife!:roflmao2.........Figured on a rain ride and we did get rained on for the first 10 miles. 30 miles total. The sun decided to come out when we reached the coast. The one good thing about riding tandem, for me anyway, ist the rider in back takes the abuse from the wet road!:D

I have tried talking the wife into a tandem, but until she is out of her RN year of school. Studying is her priority.

Uhhh today? NO!:mad:.......Not the bike's fault!:p

The more you ride a tandem , the better it gets. You and your partner get in synch with one another and then it's great! We had singles about 2 years before a tandem. Once we got the tandem we barely touched the single for nearly 2 years. It was great! We did 3 centures and maybe 3,000 a year on the tandem.

Picked up the tandem in 98, so we rode it for quite a while. Later I found a single that she loved so she rode it half and half for a couple of years. Then the new CF roadie. She really loves this bike now. SO the last 3 years it's been all about the roadie. Plus she's been on a mission to better her yearly mileage on her single.

Tandems are great but you have to stay on top of them. If you slack, you lose it. But it was also a great toolk in helping develope her abilities.:thumb:

First time we've been on the tandem in months, maybe 10th ride of the year. So it wasn't all it could be!:D

When we did ride the tandem more often, it was great. We did some serious climbs on it too. Tough but doable, just not very fast!:p

keithm0 and I went for a 36 miler (it was closer to 50 for him, since he rode the extra miles from his place to mine) on Sunday, and he caught the main force of the rainstorm on the way over to my place. It was just dumping buckets of rain, until he got to my place and it let up a little bit. Not to say we didn't get any wetter, but it wasn't pouring nearly as hard.
The pic is of us (me on left, keithm0 on right) at our breakfast break spot, catching a bit of a dry-out in a pavillion at Lake Sammamish Park.
While we've both got fenders, the snap-ons on keithm0's ride keep him free of splash ups but did nothing to keep the spray from flying up at me when I dropped in behind him a couple times to let traffic past us. That's the real benefit of full fenders and mudflaps: no spray for the people you're riding with.
