I'm a newbie, and was wondering if the 2005 Colnago Active was made in Italy.
It's an aluminum frame w/ composite forks.

I had an 05 also, and when I did some research the consesus was that all 05 Colnago's were MADE in Italy.

The bike I'm interested in has the LX24 color scheme. I'm just more hesitant about the purchase
because a co-worker had mentioned that there are lots of fake Colnagos out there. I'm new to
road bikes and Colnagos.
Are there any signs I should look for?

I don't think you have much to worry about in that regard. Unless you are getting a GREAT deal or just HAVE to get a Colnago, there are much better frames available. I didn't think mine was anything special.

Sorry, as I've been busy & away.
The '05 Colnago Active (52cm sloping) is for sale for
$1200. It includes Campy Campy front carbon fiber fork, Record crank, Campy Centaur deraillure, FSA wheelsheels, King headset, and Italian stem & handlebar. The bike looks in great condition w/ the
exception of a blemish on the front fork.
My main concern is the size; I'm 5'8 and when I stand over the top tupe, it is touching the crotch.
From your experience, can I get away w/ this size, which could be 1 or 2 sizes larger for me?
My neighbor thinks that a 52cm sloping frame translates into a 55 or 56cm standard frame.
He rides a 52cm standard colnago db tube frame (circa '90s), so he thinks my size is around
a 52cm standard also. His inseam is 1/2" - 1" longer than mine.

What's your opinion?

I am 5'7" and I had a 50S which fit fine, I believe it was equiv. to a 54 std frame. It sounds like it would be too large for you. I also don't think that is much of a deal price wise.

Yeah, the more I think about it, the 52cm sloping Colnago Active is
too big for me. However, I really like the color scheme (LX24).
I guess i wanted it more since Colnago will no longer be producing
aluminum-composite frames; especially from Italy. I don't like
Taiwan built bikes.
