Commuting - back in the saddle again

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hi all.....after many years of being a lazy ass, I'm back to commuting and loving it. I was very happy to find such a fantastic bike forum. I only have a 6.5 mile round trip but find it very enjoyable. Well, I just wanted to introduce myself and say hi.

Good on ya, kerny! What type of bike are you riding? (not that it matters... just curious) I'm betting it won't be long before you start searching out a longer route home from work. :D
I'm sure you'll find this forum great for advice and support.
hey booyah....I'm riding a gary fisher Capitola comfort bike and it is a very comfortable ride.

I bought a Gary Fisher comfort bike in September; I thought this would be all I needed. Since then, I have purchased a Cannondale Cylocross 800, and a Trek 520 Touring. I put narrow tires on the C'dale--riding miles, and miles. The Trek I use for commuting and future tours of all kinds. Don't put too much $$ into the Fisher, as you will want to save your cash for the next purchase. This is so addictive, and it feels so good.
Cheers

Great to see more fellow bike commuters on the forum. When I started commuting little more than a month ago, my wife was really skeptical as to how long my "hobby" would last. Now that I've ridden through some snow and showers, she's starting to believe that I've grown into a more mature man than one she married 8 years ago. Anyway, I'm loving it more everyday.
when I was a young man I would commute almost 365 days a year on my old trek mountain trak 800....in the rain in the snow in the wind{oh yea it gets really windy in great falls** with no special gear for my bike. I did take some nasty falls but my 20 something body held up just fine...but now that I'm 43 I really like my gary fisher....i still have my old trek along with an old schwinn road bike....btw that old schwinn is a great bike....maybe Ill get it out this summer.....kern

Welcome, Kern, nice to have you in the group.
Hey Kerny! Welcome! Perhaps we'll cross paths one day! I commute 6.75 daily (one way) from south of town.
Great group of guys here!
