I have just started road riding to lose some weight, to supplement the riding I have also started going back to the gym.
On the days after the gym my muscles become very sore, to the point where I can barely move my arms or legs, depending on the muscle group worked on.
I started taking some 500mg glutamine tablets I already had, about 4 at a time to help recover quicker, but my bottle is almost out.
I would like to get some glutamine powder, and was wondering where is a good place to get it that is inexpensive and good quality.
Also is there any other supplements I should try taking to help with recovery? Supplements to take just in general?
When working out I am doing high repetition, with less weight. Losing weight is primary goal, then building tone muscles.

There is no pill that will make muscle soreness disappear. You just started lifting, and your body needs time to adjust. Even after it adjusts, there will be days when you push yourself harder, and end up pretty sore the next day. There is nothing wrong with being sore - it generally means you got in a good workout.
2000g of glutamine seems excessive, and it seems that you think that it will "cure" muscle soreness. What you need is plenty of nutrients to help your muscle rebuild itself - a healthy combination of carbs/protein/fat with enough calories to sustain you.
Everyone is different, and without knowing your exact body type, workout regimen and fitness goals, there is no way to tell exactly what you need. IMO, the fewer supplements, the better.
(Edit: I do take protein powder, as I am the very definition of an ectomorph and have to take in a LOT of calories to simply maintain muscle mass, much less gain any. I lift weights with the focus on building strength, with building additional mass as an additional goal. It helps me. It may or may not help you.)

I have used whey protein powder before, my dad works for a cheese company that also produces whey protein so I get it for free, but as I am trying to lose weight first and foremost I thought it best not to use it right now. As for the glutamine, it definitely helps, does not cure the soreness, buts makes it much better. Most powder glutamine comes in 4.5gram servings, so the 4 - 500mg tablets or 2 grams is not excessive in the least. I have never taken any other supplements other than whey protein and glutamine.

try prosource.net. I used to get stuff from them. They have good prices, but charge shipping. it's pretty quick and reliable, though.

Eat right and you won't need glutamine...wtf that does for you.
As for lifting....low weight and high reps is soooo not the way to go either for losing weight or building muscle. Your muscles will burn a LOT more calories in the time period following the workout if you engage them to failure. Low reps, heavy weight.
Every schmo on the planet has an opinion on this but if you look to the experts....(NOT BF) you will see this to be true.

Also is there any other supplements I should try taking to help with recovery? Supplements to take just in general? The world would be a pretty scary place if any given spurt of activity could result in too much pain- that could only be solved by synthetically derived glutamine.
I have no idea what you need next. Dopamine?
But seriously, the processes surrounding muscle pain {inflammation?} are so complex, the idea that a single particular substance will rectify it scream "bogus." Although NSAIDS come to mind......
I guess if you can identify a particular genetic trait or disease that requires glutamine supplementation - then good for you. But otherwise, you'd be better off buying some pricey complete protein powder.

It was either Pavelka or Penseyres who'd do 50 reps of 450 on the sled. That's not easy. But then what do they know? For me, I've already had my meniscus repaired. Turned my head around.

Oh, and thinking about the OP's question, I buy whey protein and glutamine from http://www.spinellisnutrition.com/ . I have no interest in that company. I use about 50 times more whey than glutamine in the course of a year.
