Recent poster attached info on his Aegis Aro. What are your impressions of it? What did it cost, etc. I see you've got it built with top quality. What's it like vs other Carbons?

Hmmm, I didn't recently post info about mine but I still qualify to reply. Mine is a 2000 model, it is Lobster Red, has spinergy Xtra Lites (bladed spokes), and the components are 9 Spd Dura Ace. I love the bike. I'm so used to the carbon ride that I can't draw too much of a comparison anymore. I will say that it is not as good as a good steel or Ti ride, but is as comfortable as those and much more comfortable than an aluminum ride.
This is my 2nd Aro, with both I've had to contact the manufacturer...My fault both times. Each time I have called they were totally helpful, and talked very candidly! On one call, the owner answered!! We talked for 45 minutes and he was very helpful and was able to solve my problem...although I had to perform the work! The bottom line here, is their customer service IMHO has been impeccable!
My bike as outfitted tips the $$$ scales at around $3.5K - $4K. Because of the spinergies, it weighs in at 18lbs, a bit of a porker, but supposedly I make up the difference by being 30% more aero than conventional wheels...who knows? They look cool and on the flats it goes, climbing is another story, but I have some lightweight Mavics to install when I know I'm climbing a lot.

I have a 2001 Aro Svelte, also in Lobster Red, with a Reynolds Ouzo Pro fork. It's a nice riding bike but it isn't the lightest thing and it has a really long headtube. I wouldn't spend what they charge for the 04s. I got a pro deal on mine and paid well south of a grand for the frame and fork. It's currently built up with Record and Ksyriums and will be used as a back-up race bike this season. The sizing is odd with the slack STA and I would recommend trying before you buy.
Overall, it's a capable frame but with the current crop of carbon bikes it's no standout.
I also have an 04 Trek 5500 frameset that I built up for training this spring (around 1000 miles and counting) and it's superior in ride quality, stiffness and weight (the ride quality is only my opinion). It's also less expensive at retail than the Aro although I didn't pay anywhere near retail for the Trek either.

Thanks to both. I am starting to get the impression that Trek framesets are pretty darn good CFs. I did ride a 5000 and was quite impressed altho the component group was iffy at best. Would likely go for a 5500 if I went that way. Not sure I could part with the extra $800 for the 5900. Also, I ride a 62 so I can't really test 5500 or 5900, dealer only has 5000 in 62cm.
Just going over the CF options out there. Thanks again for the feedback.
