After my century, last weekend, I rode to work on Monday with no issues. However, as soon as I got on my bike to head home, I had a sharp pain on the outside of my knee. It persisted until I finally had to walk the bike the last half-mile to the house.
From googling around, I'm guessing this is ITBS. I adjusted my cleat a bit and rested my knee for the remainder of last week and then rode to work today. Grrrrr. I didn't get 30 minutes into riding before it started hurting again. I gingerly made it to the office and iced my knee, but I need to have it looked at.
So I'm looking for an orthopedist who is familiar with cycling issues or at least with general sports injuries. I had one that I really liked, at Presby, but he's no longer on my insurance.
Thanks.

When I was having some knee issues earlier this year, I saw Dr McNutt in Frisco: http://www.friscoortho.com/mcnutt.html
I had a good experience in my visit - he asked me some questions about what kind of activities I was involved in, how long/type of pain I was experiencing, etc (stuff you'd expect in a doctor, but don't always get). He moved my knee around some, and basically told me that it was likely an overuse injury (which was the case), but if it persisted that we'd go do an MRI or whatever next steps were necessary.
With IT band, stay off it for several days, and you probably need to adjust your saddle, like lower it maybe?
Irving Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, they took good care of me after being hit, and have also treated my ACL and my wifes shoulder since. 2 of thier docs ride all the time.

These guys did my knee back in the 80s. Just a torn meniscus, but no problems since.
The Dr. that did my procedure retired in 06.

Thanks for all the feedback!
Dr. Gemas is on my insurance plan and just down the road from my house.
My wife made my appointment for Thursday morning.
I'll let y'all know what I find out.
Do you ever stretch your IT band? If not, then ask Dr. Gemas for recommendations

I never had before, but since the pain started, I've been trying. I don't know how effective I've been. I expect that will be part of the rehab.

My appt. with Dr. Gemas went well. He affirmed the ITBS diagnosis. I had him look at my hand also, (injured in a crash, back in June). He recommends physical therapy for both. Due to the build up of scar tissue in my knuckles, the hand will likely take longer than the knee.
So, I should start PT on Tuesday and we'll see how it goes, (he said to rely on the therapist for advise on when to get back on the bike).
