It's a Ladies' Trek 800. I took it for a test ride, and it feels and works very good. I bought it for a fraction of what it costs in a bike shop. I also bought the accessories I needed. My brother says he will buy my car back from me, which is awesome. I've begun practicing in my brother's driveway (he has a rather large driveway). I haven't ridden a bike in 16 years, but I'm gaining balance and confidence.
So today I'll ride to my aunt's house, which is just a couple blocks away.
I'm happy to say goodbye to insurance and gas. Plus, I'm helping the environment!

Congratulations! And good luck.

Only advice I'll give is ride it every day. And each day, go just a little bit farther. You'll be amazed how soon you'll be in good enough shape to ride anywhere you want to go.

It's an exciting moment when you first get back into biking. I made my first bike ride (after about 40 years...) 3 years ago and I was hooked from the very first moment.

On the practical side, though, I hope you have investigated a Plan B transportation option. If you destroy a wheel or it's blowing 60mph outside, you might want to catch the bus to work.

I use a mens Trek 800 as a commuter. It's got 1.9 inch road tires, rack, pannier, handlebar bag, bell, lights, cupholders. It gives me everything I need for a short commute. I ride all around town on it. It's probably my favorite bike.

Congratulations on making the move to car-free. It's really enjoyable to use the bike to get around. You may want to keep a copy of the bus schedule so that you can get around on the quick if you suddenly have a problem with the bike, or if you're not feeling well.

Best wishes.

I loved reading the OP because it reminded me of my own excitement when I got a bike just over 6 years ago. I'm still enjoying my rides and count it as one of the best things I ever did.

Best of luck, nostalgic, and may you always find joy on 2 wheels. :)
