Northern California - Sunday 11/9 Ride

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
With the weather clearing up and looking really nice for the weekend, I'm thinking of rerunning the Cantelow Both Ways ride. Start in Winters and do 2 loops. Loop one will go up the continuous back side and back to Winters. Turn around and ride it again the other direction going up the less sustained side.
Lunch at the usual place.
Pending turnout, this can be run as a Laid Back ride, or not. Either way, no one gets dropped and we'll regroup periodically.
Start time at 10:30
Who's in?
This sounds cool, but I'm a tentative for now... I don't mean to ask for change (especially since I'm tentative), but I'd prefer a later start for selfish reasons (gives me time to go to Farmers Market (which is my main reason) and it will be warmer). :)
We shall see,
-Nico
A later start is a possibility. If we make it 10:30, we can break for lunch at the half-way point instead of after.

Our race team is having try-outs on Sat., time-trialling up the west side.
So a repeat at a reasonable speed appeals to me. If I'm not working, that is.
I'll try to reserve the day.
We might even ride tandem...heh, heh, heh...;)

My wife is in DC all weekend so a Burley with 100# of kids in it won't work too well. Next time Joel.

Soooo, what's considered a good time up the west side anyway? I did repeaters back in the summer and clocked between 7-8 minutes with a best time just below 7 min. I climbed each side 5x that day (Death Ride training) so I wasn't exactly in TT mode, but I wasn't going slow either.
Just curious how I stack up to the racer types. ;)

Deb, I think we may be going up the east side. :)
Rydaddy, if you are interested in joining the Team Precision, please join us this Saturday (Nov 8) @ Precision Bicycles, 630 Orange Drive, Suite H, Vacaville, CA 95687. We are leaveing the parking lot @ 9am sharp. Any questions call Leon @ 707-447-6399.
Thanks,
Brandy
What time do you want to start? How's 10:30 with lunch after the first loop?
What's the grade of Cantelow from the Pleasants Valley Rd side? I made that mistake once and the cows were laughing at my sufferring!
I think it hit 14 or 15% at one spot. It was tough but not impossible. We'll have a nice break at the top to regroup. So if you want/need, stop on the way up to breathe. I'll likely have to stop once.
I'am in cupertino i didn't realize how far of a drive itll be. im going to pass but i will be at the century. have fun guys

I'll let you know.
I've never timed myself going up either side. I usually put it in the biggest gear I can and scoot up , standing, as fast as I can. Maybe I'll take a trial run tomorrow or Friday and get an idea.
Brandy, if we go up the east side, all the better. :D
9am or 10:30am start? What's better? It'll be warmer at 10:30 and lunch in the middle. And who's in?
I'll be out there about 10:30.

It's a great day for a bike ride. Hope you have a good time.
We're heading over to SF shortly to help our daughter move. So no ride for us today. :(
There's always tomorrow...
Oh yuck. Moving. I hate that. Last time we just paid someone else to do it for us.
Should be a fun ride, though it looks like I'll be by myself today. I guess that's what I get for trying to be accommodating.
