Road Cycling - Best sign to see while riding.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Those signs are put on each end of the only bridge on Hilton Head Island, as if no one could tell there was actually an incline there.

Even if it's an "out and back" route. :D
on the path near me there's a sign that says "steep hill" what they don't say is "steep hill with a huge set of steps afterwards." an uncommon case of not enough signs
My favourite sign...

can someone explain "cruising" to me? i noticed a sign around here that's very similar to that (only without the bicycles have right of way part).

According to the Washington Traffic Code:
46.10.030 Acts constituting cruising prohibited. No person shall drive or permit a motor vehicle
under his care, custody or control to be driven past a traffic-control point more than two times in the same
direction of travel within a two-hour period in or around a posted no cruising area so as to contribute to traffic
congestion, obstruction of streets, sidewalks or parking lots, impediment of access to shopping centers or
other buildings open to the public or interference with the use of property or conduct of business in the area
adjacent thereto. The third passage of the same traffic-control point in the same direction of travel within the
aforementioned two-hour period constitutes a violation of this chapter. (Ord. 9078 § 3, 1989).

Steep hills are great fun, but after a long hard ride I like to see a sign that says"GUINESS ON DRAUGHT".

Like those "Bridge is out, 6ft" signs.

i never thought to stop and take pix of signs before. hmmm.
there is one on my morning training route that is a yellow sign that depicts a bicycle and states the word BICYCLE on it. underneath it is another yellow sign that states "25mph strictly enforced"
it makes it seem as if they are saying to the Bicyclists that you'd better go 25mph...because it will be strictly enforced.

Who said anything about stopping? ;) I take a lot of my pictures while moving.

Not *quite* in the same vein, but while I was out on a long ride last weekend I noticed a sign advertising a horse shop. Directly underneath it was a hand-written sign which said "Chinese Food available" pointing in the same direction as the horse shop sign :-D

Don't have a pic of it, but on Hilton Head Island, there are signs that read "Watch for stopped traffic" at every stoplight. I'd like to meet the lawyer whose client rear ended someone else, then sued South Carolina for mot putting up a warning sign that traffic is stopped at a red light.

I lived in Reading Pennsylvania for four years. It is routine there for the locals to speed up on yellow lights and run reds. As a consequence, people do stop at green lights in that town. That could be the reasoning for that sign.
