I had it since May

It is white, Cannondale R5. Low mileage. I had it chained to the wall in the underground garage. They left the two other bikes (crappy ones) and just took mine. Just put on a sweet schwalbe $75 almost bullet proof tire, since I keep getting flats.... stupid me for leaving it down there. :notamused:

S077771 was the serial #.

It's sad that we can't even chain our bikes up without them getting stolen. Sorry to hear about your loss. I'd start looking on craigslist, ebay and the local pawn shops to see if you can maybe recover it.

So sorry! Any possibility the bldg. has insurance for such a thing? Renters insurance?

I hope things turn out well for you.

Bummer. Now it's time to start thinking about a new bike.

Mmmmm yes, renter's insurance. Reminds me, I need to record my S/N's on the latest additions to the stable...

File a police report and ask them about pawn shop and secondhand store reporting procedures.

I think things should be roughly similar up there as down here. Pawn shops and used places have to hold things 30 days as well as send a report of all merch to the local PD. Granted the perp probably will either use it for his own use or sell off different parts to other tweakers but you never know...

As someone noted above, check Craigslist for LA and surrounding areas for the next couple weeks. I know someone who retrieved his stolen bike that way. As an added benny, the perp was arrested with possession of a bunch of stolen goods.

Yes, I didn't even think of ebay or hitting the pawn shops. I just assumed it was taken apart. I am going to buy an engraver and write my name all over the thing next time.

I do have home owner's insurance- but the deductible is $1,000- and with all the goodies it is probably worth $1,500. I just put on a pair of Schwalbe tires that cost $140 for the pair- there is sooo much debris on Sepulveda pass I kept getting flats and bought some tires that were bullet proof... but not theft proof.

I am going to go to war on my HOA- as people have complained about lack of security. If some poor lady went down into the garage and witnessed it- she could have gotten hurt. If I witnessed it- he would have gotten hurt.
