First spinning class of the season!! This is my third winter of doing spinning classes, and my father's first. Each season I have had a different instructor, and the location was different for the second season.
Some observations:
-- the past two seasons, I started spinning classes in January or February after easing back significantly on my cycling for the 2-ish months prior to the classes ... and I found the classes quite challenging. This year, however, I started the classes now, before my outdoor cycling year has begun to taper off ... in fact, I had a great October of cycling! This time the classes seem like an extension of my outdoor cycling, and not so much of a challenge.
-- as far as locations go ... I like the location we're in now. I was in this particular location for the first season as well, but my second season was in a basement room with no ventilation and bikes I was not particularly fond of. This is much better ... we're at one end of a walking track, facing a huge window. Not that we can see much out the window because it is dark, but we can see the lights of the city. And the space is huge because it's all part of the walking track, so there is great ventilation. I don't feel so stifled. And the bicycles are better.
-- the time seems to go faster in the location/set-up we're currently in. I'm not sure if it because the air isn't so stifling, or because the bicycles are more comfortable, or because there are a few distractions (people walking and jogging around, twinkling lights outside, etc.), or maybe because the instructor is better ...........
This class goes twice a week till the middle of December ... and then I'll have to decide what I want to do for January. But I really want to keep my fitness level up this winter.
