I have two problems in building my bike - the first is someone cranked down the lock ring really hard on my 9 speed tiagra cassette - the screw seems to have been cranked down so hard that it is dented in. IT is chewing up my cassette tool - any advice on how to get this off? (I have a new lock ring ready to go so destroying the lock ring is not a problem - just need to get it unstuck)
My second problem is installing the headset = it is a Modus headset 1 1/8" and I'm not sure if I just put the bearings in the frame and then install the plastic seal and caps and thats it or if I need to get the bearings pressed in?
Any advice is appreciated.
I have the tools to remove the stuck cassette its just it wont budge and is soo tight that its almost out of range of the cassette tool - it just chews the edges of the teeth when I try it...

If you aren't already doing so, run your quick release skewer through the lock ring remover and tighten it down so the remover doesnt slip. Then put your chain whip and big old wrench on it.
Another possibility...put the lockring remover in a bench vise. Go ahead and put the QR skewer through it. Slap your chain whip on the cassette, of course, and then turn the wheel from the rim. That will give you a good deal more leverage than a wrench.
If that doesn't work, see if you can find a Pamir Hypercracker or similar tool. Because it uses the bike's frame and drivetrain for leverage, it can provide some serious leverage.
Good luck, boyfriend!

I had one that was stuck that badly. I finally put a cuting wheel in my Dremel and carved away at the lockring until it came off in pieces.
