Winter Cycling - Good heavy duty winter bib recommendations

I was originally looking at the Assos Airblock tights as the big splurge this winter since I'd rather not deal with the cold legs I get with my Gore-tex. In fairness to the Gore tights they're not meant for sub 40 temperatures so otherwise I like them. The Assos just went up in price from $319 to $399 and I don't want to splurge that badly. I'm looking at the Giordana Forma Windfront and the Capoforma Limited Edition Roubaix. Any experiences with either that might help me decide, or other recommendations?

I have a Nalini fleece lined. I pretty much is always way too hot.. Maybe i get to use it 4-5 times a season. I should take it up to scandavia, or somewhere like that. It was on sale from Euroduds for like 70 bucks.

Do you use it in sun 40 degree temperatures?

I just bought a set of Endura Thermolite Windfront Clip Bib (http://www.endurasport.com/Product.aspx?dept_id=131&prod_id=171) tights.

So far the lowest temp I've had them out in was 29. Did this with my cheesiest pair of shorts. I expect I won't have to layer anything under them until 15 or lower. Over 35 or 40 they're too warm.

The knee isn't articulated, but it is cut on a radius. It seems as comfortable as other tights I have with a articulated knee, and there's no stretching or bunching like I have on cheaper tights with a straight knee.

Thus far I'm VERY pleased. They were great in a cold rain too. Can't report yet on long-term durability.

Caveat: I usually wear a medium, but in these I had to buy a large because I couldn't get the mediums over my quads. (And my quads are nothing to brag about.)

I wear PI Amfib tights with cycling shorts, not bib-tights, but they are warm. Above 35 degrees, I just wear PI regular cycling bib-tights, so I cycle on the warm side. No problems with moving around on bike, and this over 2 hrs. For cold, ie. less than 20 degrees, I use Amfibs with baselayer. I thought about buying the Giordana Windfront BodyClone, but I can't justify the cash outlay when the Amfibs for about $100 have been doing the job. HTH.

+1 for the PI Amphib tights. They're a bit snug, but that's because I wear long underwear underneath them and the windproof material in front of the tight. I can vary the warmth with the type of underwear.

Craft Elite with windblocker fronts are great. I rode in 25 degrees this Saturday with them and they worked well. Articulated knee, fleece inside, very warm.

Much about 45 F, however, and the Amfibs are just plain too hot:eek: PI ThermaFleece work very well for me down to around 20 F. If I'm sure that the temperature isn't going to rise much or that going home is going to be nearly as cold as riding in, I'll use the Amfibs but otherwise the ThermaFleece work well and are pretty cheap (~$100)
