Road Cycling - Not a huge fan of Treks... but check this out...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I was at my LBS getting some pricing, and generally feeling the LBS love, and on my way out I saw this... you too can own one for a paltry $7,000... I would even ride this Trek... it looked pretty sweet

Nice bike, ugly paintjob. Looks best in the silvery grey colour.

Why do so many limited edition things look so bad?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Personally, I prefer the regular graphix on the Madone. But LBS here has a Project One Madone that is really awesome--graphix look like a lightning storm at night. Very cool!

Is that all??? :)

You can own Tyler's bike for a mere $10,000.

If I ever had the money, and it felt right, I'd go straight for a high-end Colnago. I think they make the most beautiful bikes I have ever seen.

I like the Lance poster that comes with the bike.

Purely on aesthetics, I prefer Tyler's...not that it's my favorite paint job...

I think the special edition madone would look better with blacked-out components. I think the yellow frame would be accented. the blue sorta clashes with the yellow, I think.

Yes, the yellow would clash with my shoes and my favorite "drink beer til ya' puke" jersey.

So, I'm not buying one.

For those prices Lance or Tyler ought to deliver it personally.

I'd buy it if I got to go to the tour, and ride the bus with the team...

Well for one, they're not Bianchi:p Honestly though, they're just thought of as a brand seen everywhere, partially due to Lance or otherwise. Their products are great in my opinion, just not as exotic as some of the other brands so people tend to classify them a little lower.

I dont know why people are so afraid of having things that other people have....just cause LA rides one and made the brand more popular does not mean that they are bad...OHHH POP CULTURE....their technology is as good as anyone elses...that is indisputable....i mean look at the madone 5.9, HOT STUFF

Hmmmmm ...the psychology of the Trek and Shimano haters seems to be all about bashing the big boys regardless of how well their products work.

I think part of this comes with the somewhat "elitist" attitude of most roadies... I, for one, think that Trek makes an incredible bike... that and marketing is why everyone and their mother owns a Trek... in my bike club alone, it is nearly 30% Trek riders...

But, I ride a Lemond... I thought the fit was better... I have heard nothing but good reviews about them, and the fact that not too many people ride them around my neighborhood, gives it slightly more "cool factor" to me. It's good to be different

And before one of you clowns says so.. yes I do know that Trek owns Lemond

a guy I ride with is getting one of the few of these that are coming to Australia. Apparently they are on the production line at the moment.

I did tease him that from a distance it will just look like my yellow Trek 1000 ! I love the paintjob. Most bikes are far too conservative.

I think it's a great product for the guy who has to have something unusual. My brother had an older version of that bike and I thought it was cool. I'm happy with what I have.

And if you remember back to 1999, after LA won his first Tour, TREK came out with the limited edition 5200. Production was limited to 1999 bikes & the color was yellow
with blue accents.
Personally, I own 2 TREK bikes. Long before I ever knew who LA was, I wanted to own a TREK. When I could finally afford it, I got them. I really don't care what anyone thinks about the bkes. They work well for me & I'm quite happy with them.
As for the limited edition bikes, keep them. That is one crappy paint job.
