Folding Bikes - Uncommon ways of using of your folding bike?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I ride it to work every morning and most of the evening. Sometimes I bring it onto MRT which is becoming accepted by the public. This I consider are the common way of using a folding bike.
On the other hand, my "odd" or uncommon way of using my folding bike is to fold it in half, push it into Super Market or Starbucks as a shopping trolley. some people find it strange while other find it amusing. But I don't really care because this is the best way to ensure the bike is still with me when I finish my shopping or after a nice cup of coffee.

For the non-Singaporean.
MRT = Mass Rapid Transit aka Singapore's subway system.

What model of folding bike is that? I don't think I could fold mine to make it into a usable shopping cart.

It's a JZ88. Singaporean designed and produced 14" foldie (at least I think it was 14")
It's the OPs brainchild.
Hey Stormclad, how do you know?

I would like to know if there's anyone here who brings a folder inside the cabin of a bus each day for work. That would be very uncommon!

I don't do that every day, but it's often enough that the bus drivers in the morning are just whatever about it.

i use my bike as a seat, during the crowded morning commute in the train, which is guaranteed to have no seat for you ;)

I sometimes use mine so that my boyfriend can take the carpool lane to work.
He drives, I take my bike in the trunk.
Then when we get to his work, I ride home (anywhere from 15-40 miles depending on my route), sometimes doing errands on the way.
Unfortunately it's only on days that I am working from home and have a flexible schedule, which is not all that often.

I take mine on the bus when it rains.
Flexibility and ease of switching between different options is really the key.
It's normal for foldie but truely uncommon for riders of regular bikes :-)
I use mine to play bike polo. The additional maneuverability I think adds significant advantage and I still feel that the smaller wheels accelerate faster. The really low top tube has also been nice when having to stop suddenly.

This gets my vote for most uncommon!

My entry would be that I very rarely fold my folding bike!

When there are big events in San Francisco (4th of July fireworks, Blue Angels show, parades), if there's no parking, I drop of my family close to the event. I then park far away from the all of the cars, then take out my folding bike, then I bike to meet them there.

Your boy friend is so lucky - or it's an excuse for you to ride? Anyway, this is indeed special!

I once used mine as a sort of stepladder to reach something from the rafters in my (bike filled) garage. It wasn't very stable. I've also used the 07 Downtube IXFS which is being fettled in my back room as a clothes drying rack.

Thanks, I guess it's a bit of both. I'm going to go for a ride anyway, so why shouldn't he benefit? :)
