Hi, my name is Derek, and I'm a foldie rider.

Currently, I pootle around on a 6 speed sunny yellow Brompton on a little sunny island, both to get around and for recreation.

I'm an engineer in training, and my bike-related interests are in mechanisms, commuting and touring.

Glad to be here. :D

Heh, the 'lah' was a nice touch. Thanks! Haven't seen that quote of 'moo is bovine' for a long time....a friend of mine often said that....

I had a couple of friends expatting there for 5+ years, so I got the chance of visiting the island on several occasions. I liked the place a lot, but riding a bike in that temperature and humidity is hardcore in my book. I tried out a rental POS mountain bike in one of the parks along ECP on one visit, was sweating like a pig. Not pretty. :twitchy:

If you know who originally wrote the "bovine" sig line, please let me know so I can quote it properly.

Our weather IS pretty unforgiving on riders, and we often have to deck ourselve in dri-fit clothing should we choose to commute by bike. And even so, we still need to towel ourselve dry at the destination.

Not too sure if you've dropped by in the last year or so, but Singapore is trying to integrate a nation wide cycling path into our parks. Still a WIP, but the project name is called 'Park Connectors'. ECP was one of the first places to be integrated into a cycling path network in the area.
