Classic & Vintage - nice bike just sliped through my fingers

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. For quite some time I've been looking for a Trek 520 my size in my area for cheap. This morning I find this in my local CL ads:
http://fresno.craigslist.org/bik/907702897.html
Call him and apparently he's had a bunch of calls and he says first come first serve ~ 3:30pm. I won't leave work till 6pm. ARGGGGGGggggg

Complain of toothache, phone a recorded message and loudly accept a last minute cancelled appointment, rush out and buy your Trek. Don't bring it back to work, but do pull one of your own teeth out with a pair of pliers and you'll have genuine pain on return. Call it the price of deception, the Trek could be worth it!

Maybe all the other callers (if there are other callers, probably so but you never know) don't get off work until 7pm today. Call him up 15 minutes before you leave work and ask if it's still available.

I just saw the tooth puller post, ouch, good plan but painfull. Do you have any vacation time you have to burn up before the end of the year?????

What I do in instances like this is follow my normal schedule. If the bike is still there when I get there it's mine, if not it wasn't meant to be.
You may "stumble" on another in better condition for less, you never know.
Wow, that price is smoking hot. I would do whatever I could to snap it up.

You could always send a friend to pick it up.

I know that feeling, and I didn't get it. IT, was a mid or late 70's Motobecane Grand Touring, in grey and black, for $60. Guess what, it's about a year and a half later now, and I found one about a week ago. It's in even better condition. It does happen!! Send a friend, your wife, your G/F, anybody! My wife
has picked up a couple of things before from CL on my behalf. Wonderful woman:D.,,,,BD

interesting that they took the picture with an infrared camera.

Yep, it keeps the stable (mostly) under control. I've missed out on my fair share of bikes because of this belief system as well...
So it's 9:00, is it yours?

I used to think I decided on buying bikes too quickly, so the day I found a custom made Yeti (made in Durango, my home town) tri frame and fork in my size for $75, I decided to think about it for a few hours. Really, really dumb thing to do.
I still get pain in my chest when I think about this experience.
Now my philosophy is, if it's a good enough deal that I know I can turn it and get the same amount of money back, I don't hesitate.

The ad is still up, so i hope that means you were able to buy it. FWIW, that frame sure looks to be the same size as my 600 which is the 24" size which is more like 59.5cm c-t-c measurement. The next size down is 56cm (22.5" model).

Well, I chose the 'go about my daily routine and call as I'm leaving work' option and of course it was gone. Thanks for the support guys... keep searching
