I'm looking for a recumbent and am interested in the Barcroft Virginia. Does anyone have any input regarding this bike?

While I never rode one but I've read nothing but praise from those that have. Have you checked out the reviews at places like www.bentrideronline.com ?

And when you get to www.bentrideronline.com, look up momike. He owns one and would gladly talk your ear off about it.

Barcroft was the big buzz bike before Bacchetta came to town. Barcroft is one of the
shrinking number of bents with a US made frame and they are available with really
nice paint schemes. Weight is reasonable. You could do worse. Steve

I am definitely interested in this bent as well! Anyone know if they can be test ridden by a trip eastward?

I think they are sort of made to order. The owner of the company lives in/near
Wash DC and has for years ridden on Sat AM year around with a bent group that
rides the Rock creek park road for a couple of hours and a leisurely ride. Usually
15 to 30 bents. A search on Wash DC and recumbents should turn up a generic
web site. The frames have been made by Steve Delaire at Rotator Recumbents
and the bikes built up in Virginia. Have you checked the Barcroft website for
dealers and availibility? Steve

If you call or email Barcroft, Bill Cook will try to arrange some way to try one of his bikes. I got to try a guys Dakota S here in CA and loved it. It came down to that or the Gold Rush. I choose the GR becuase of my proximity to the Easy Racers Shop, (3 mi. away), but I still love the Barcrofts and plan on owning one in the future (Dokota S or Virginia, I keep flip flopping). They are awesome bikes.

Hi all! I've already gotten some offers to let me test ride some locally to where I live, so it looks like a real possibility here in the near future. Plus the guys locally know these bikes really, really well. It's a purchase that would be "down the road" anyway, so I am not in any hurry to make a final decision yet. It's just one model I am intrigued by.

I think I am attracted to the Virginia because the seat sits lower and I am short. I want to be able to sit comfortably on the bike with my feet on the ground, not tippy toe. But the idea of lying way back does not work for me because of neck problems. Neither do I want to be sitting straight up. Wonder what the degree of seat recline is on these? Are they as versatile as a RANS seat, if, in fact, you put a RANS seat on one? I really like that seat...never had problems with it at all.

It is my understanding that the Barcrofts come outfitted with RANS seats and bars.
