Does anybody know anything about the r500 shifters? According to a guy at one of my lbs's they are a high quality 8 speed sti shifter that shimano has just released. He says they are comparable to a 105 or ultegra shifter. I'm a little suspicious of the quality though. Why would shimano realease such a thing? I'm building my bike for cyclocross racing next season and everything on it is xtr. I just don't want any weak links. The reason with sticking to 8sp is for compatability with my other two bikes. Thoughts? Advice? Thanks in advance.
