Is anyone planning on riding the Bike Across Florida, 167 miles, April 18?
If so I am considering it, but am still unsure as I havent had much riding time with this crazy daylight savings time, the 100 I know I could do, but the 67 may be too much for me.
I hear 12 hours is the expected time, anyone know more about this ride, or has anyone done it or plan on doing it?

Is it a race or just a tour?

Not sure, it says that for the entries that finish within 12 hours trophies will be awarded

Hi -

Did you decide to ride in the Bike Across Florida? - a friend and I are going to ride it. There is a race component, but also a ride just to finish. We are just hoping to finish. Like you, we are not concerned about completing 100, but the additional miles are a concern. We did a century yesterday in about 6 hours - so were not fast - just hoping to finish.

I won't be doing that one since it's right around Final Exams here at FSU. But I'll probably be doing http://www.cccyclists.org/TOSRV_2008.php

I'm doing the 170 mile Sunrise to Sunset run accross Florida (from Jensen Beach to Ft. Myers) next weekend but as a relay. Max mileage should be around 30 miles per runner. I'd rather be riding for sure.

Wouldn't it be safer for a toddler to wander across the Long Island Expressway @ rush hour?

I think threads should be locked after a certain amount of time. Its lame when someone does a search, digs up an old thread, and responds. Then everyone starts posting in it again not realizing its old...

What makes this a race? Please dont say because everybody that finishes in 12 hours gets a trophy..........

WTF - my bad - but I am but one fool. I agree that there should be some lockdown date since it would help me from embarassing myself more than usual.

Funny thing is that there is another thread with very similar name that was started recently. I am doing this ride by the way. 170 miles with an 11 hour cut off. April 20th. Anyone else doing it????

170 miles in 11 hours in Florida sounds pretty easy to me. How many overpasses do you guys have to go over?

There is a total of "3000 ft of climbing". I know it doesn't sound like much to some of you mountain goats, but you add the burning sun an d the daily 20-30 mph winds (generally headwinds) and it is not so easy. At least not for some of us
