Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

View Full Version : Election time! Again!

Sure, we have a new president & Veep, but King Termite has proclaimed himself regent o' Foo and all the lands pertaining therein.

Seeing as how Foo resides within the confines of Bike Forums, itself a principality of the USA, which is a democracy (snide and disgruntled comments of late to the contrary notwithstanding) we should probably put his reign to a vote.

Plus it's a slow morning on Foo and somebody had to do something.

If it keeps things more interesting, I'm for it. Anything to keep me from thinking about my IRA:rolleyes:

As commander in chief, I'd always reserve those gams as a game changing threat. Take that, Ahmadinejad

Hickeydog

I do.

But then again, I want a lot of people's heads on silver platters.

And what wine would like served with that, sir?

Oh wait! You're too young to drink, dingleberry!

Be careful. I have about 600 volts rigged up to that one tooth. If you're grounded when you touch it, you're a dead Hickeydog. ;)

And I have been hit with 10,000 volts before. Just lettin you know.....

I've had 25,000 volts through me. It's not the voltage that hurts...

I'm not so sure about severing heads, can we just do a partial sever?

Hickeydog
11-07-08, 10:16 AM
It's the amps that kill. Now, if you told me that you had 100 watts at 3 volts going through your head.....

Um....no, no you didn't. Volts don't "go" anywhere. Only Amps travel.

AEO
11-07-08, 10:23 AM
but the higher the voltage, the easier it is for stronger currents.

Hickeydog
11-07-08, 10:25 AM
Thus, giving the misconception that high voltages always equal killing force.

I've had 40,000 volts go through me. again...Voltage =/= killing...

No, you still didn't because volts still don't "go through" anything. They don't move.

How quickly this has degenerated into the electronics geek thread.

I want to see more photos of ehidle's legs before I vote. I know his legs have nothing to do with KT, I just want to see them again. :p It's Friday and I have to get retrained on our quality system for the millionth time. I need a distraction.

and all people have different amounts of resistance to an electrical charge flowing through them.

The electrons in my body were moved by the force of 40,000 volts...

Yes, the electrons moved, not the volts. I'm only being "technical" because its exactly those misstatements that propagate the wrong interpretations of electricity dangers.

Volts don't move, volts don't kill. It's the difference in voltage between two points on your body that create amperage (because of the resistance of your body itself) and it's that amperage (moving electrons) that hurt/kill.

One could, in theory, touch any voltage as long as they were at the same potential and not be hurt. Or be properly insulated so that you weren't "touching" the ground (or other much lower voltage potential) and be perfectly safe.

I live in California. The fine voting majority of this state has declared that anyone with legs that hairy *must* be a man. Anything other than that is not allowed.

dude, you may know a volt from an amp, but that's a lousy pic of a pair of legs. Looks like a good set of calves there - you need a photog (and a Norelco)
