BMX - recommended so. california stores for 24"?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm just starting shopping for a cruiser and was hoping to test ride some. I've checked out some of the related posts here in the BMX forum, but no internet research is ever gonna be as valuable as actually riding them, but the stores I frequent only have 1 or possibly 2 on the floor. I've been a (solid intermediate, possibly advanced) road biker for a number of years although I still have my 1983 Mongoose 20" that I'll break out every once in a while.
I'm actually looking to replace my road bike with the 24". I'm absolutely fed up with all the flat tires and all the wasted money on tubes and tires. I ride only bout 15 miles a day with no significant hills, so a single speed cruiser on the lighter side should work just fine. I might even try to stick with the clipless pedals.
I live in LA (SFValley) and regularly wander down to San Diego, so I'd like to hit some stores in those areas. Budget isn't really an issue. Thanks.

Oh yes it is pretty sweet. Still in super good shape. It's got the big ol CW bars, old style Pro Neck, Shimano Bear Claw pedals. I wish it still had the original rims with the holes but I bashed them up too much when I was a teenager.

I can't offer any CA stores but I can offer brands to look for. Are you just going to cruise it or shred it?

Na, just cruise it. I'm leaning toward full chromoly unless you or somebody can recommend something else.

OK so I've done some research. Since I'm only riding street and not bashing it around, I'm now leaning toward aluminum because it's lighter. Keeping in mind that I ride fairly fast and hard and about 20 miles a day on my road bike which is closer to 20 pounds than 25, while the 24"s I've checked are closer to 30.
What does anybody think of the SE Floval Flyer?
This might be an absurd question, but- which cruiser has the most vertical seat tube angle? I'm so used to riding with my hips directly over my pedals but the seat is so far back on all these I've checked. Obviously some compromise will be in order, but riding so far back with clipless pedals might not be so comfortable.

stick with chromoly, weight shouldn't be a major concern
