Gonna replace my 12-23 with a 12-26. Will I have to change the chain for the extra 3 teeth? Talkin' about a Cannondale R1000 Ultegra if that means anything.

Shift to the large ring in the front and the large cog in the rear (:eek: cross chaining :eek:). If everything shifts ok you're good to go. If not you'll need to add links. :(

+1 on checking it at the "chainring crossing" in both your largest ring/cog. you should be ok, but if you wanna add a few links and have the right tool and know how, that would be ideal. just remember that you still have your two smallest chainrings and rear cog, so if you do add, only go a few and be sure that it wouldn't make your chain sag in your smalls. make sure your derailleur can handle a few extra teeht as i have found road bike short cage derailleurs to be... choosey when things get changed around.

You have 2 concerns

1) Correct chain length that won't explode your derailleur in the big/big combo
2) Current chain wear

If #1 happens then you're in for a nice repair bill. If #2 happens then you're in for some new dental work.

Well, got her changed over and....what a nice improvement! Didn't need to change the chain and gotta say the new SRAM cassette shifts even better than the original Ultegra.
