if you are asking about bicycle clubs in the true southern region of New Jersey, check out:
South Jersey Wheelmen (SJW), www.sjwheelmen.org
there are links to other clubs at that site as well!
are you in N-S-E-W NJ? what type of ride are you looking for (road, mountain bike, trail, tour...etc)?

Yea information would of helped huh...lol...
I"m in Northern NJ...Close to Newark and NYC...looking for Road cycling clubs in the B range.
at www.sjwheelmen.org , go down the page list on the left 9 spaces. the first page on this list is "SJW Home Page".
at page 9, there are listings of "Other Bicycle Clubs". i think Northern NJ has representation there, as are Pa. and De.!

I'm in Brooklyn, but I ride up there frequently.
If you're looking for good climbs, you can go out to The Chathams or lower New York State region (Warwick comes to mind, as does Bear Mountain). The Chathams and Summit are closer to the middle of NJ, but it's a great ride.
You can also ride out to the Morris Mountains for good climbing as well. That's Morristown, Morris Plains, Denville and Dover region, which is more Eastward.
A nice route that a lot of people take is the route to Piermont/Nyack/Haverstraw/Bear Mountain, all of which is along 9W.
Since I live in Brooklyn, I do a Brooklyn to Hoboken ride mostly to gauge my progress or if I have nothing better to do. I ride to the George Washington Bridge, then take Palisades Road to Gorge Road to River Road, which passes by Fort Lee, Cliffside Park, Edgewater, East New York, Weehawken and Hoboken. It's not very challenging, but it's a nice ride.

Actually just came back from the 9W ride...didnt make it all the way to bear mountain tho...stopped at Rockland State park and came back down to fort lee. 50 miles total....i'm a lousy climber so that ride alone kicked my ass. Usually for fun rides I ride over the GW down to Ground zero and back...
Any Suggestions on how to improve climbing?

Bike Touring Club of New Jersey. www.btcnj.com
Or you can just as easily hook up with a lot of the 5bbc rides where you are.
I am guessing W.O. means West Orange...
Besides the BTCNJ, there is also the Morris Area Freewheelers, based out of Morristown, NJ...

Yes WO does stand for West Orange...yea I've seen that club and some others now... There is also one in Montclair i might check out....Have any of you guys done the Team in training organization?
I went to one of the info sessions I think in parsippany a few years ago, the one they fly you out to Tuscon, AZ and do a ride there.. It was informative but there is a lot of fund raising to do, something that I am not good at so I passed. They still send me flyers though.
Having said that, I see a lot of people in the centuries that I do with those Team in training shirts on so there are organized training events that they do and they'll ride various 100 mile events in and around NJ. I think a lot of them are those that either have not ridden a century before or novice cyclists. As an experienced cyclist, I was turned off by the amt of fund raising you have to do. Good cause, can't say enough about that and if this appeals to you and you are more confident in your fund raising, then I'd say go for it. It appears to be a somewhat decent organization and if you haven't ridden a century yet, probably a good motivational tool.

I'm from Ramsey/Mahwah... Maybe like 10 minutes from the Upstate NY border and 20 or so miles from the city. I'm in Hoboken, Manhattan and Brooklyn (Bushwick, Greenpoint, Williamsburg) pretty often.

I'm a Skylands member...that's in the north western part of NJ. Tons of great riding out there, and not that far from the Oranges, maybe a half hour down rt 80. Plenty of opportunities to work on your climbing ;-)
