Busy hour at my bike shop yesterday.

- When my bike fell over on tour on Monday I broke my front derailer. I need to replace it at some point, but my shop has it working for now.

- the cyclecross tires the shop sold me were too large for the bike. In fact, they were so large they began wearing through the paint on one of the chainstays. They took back the tires, credited me for them, and remounted my road/commuting tires. Oh, and they applied touch up paint to the chainstay.

- my replacement rear wheel is in, hopefully ending the long story that began with my getting a replacement wheel at some disreputable shop in Edison, NJ, back in May. That wheel blew six spokes a couple of months later, and after the original shop mistreated me, my bike shop arranged with Trek for a replacement. The new wheel is a 32 spoke with an upgraded all aluminum hub ( the old hub had steel parts).

- we discussed my clipless dilemma. We'll try to mount the Frogs again this spring.

Good to hear! I'm in a similar boat lately, it seems. Just one week without breaking things, and I'll be happy :).

Are you getting different cross tires? I've been simply enamored with my marathon crosses, fwiw.
