I bought a new tire for my commuter bike, and it turns out the wire bead has a very noticeable kink in it:

The other bead is kinked as well, though not quite as badly. The tire is a 700x28 Specialized Nimbus (cheap-o road tire), in case it matters.
Should I:
A. Install the tire and not worry about it
B. Try to un-kink the bead by bending it back
C. Throw it away

Just unkink it by hand, very simple to do. This kind of stuff happens all the time during shipping.

A. No.
B. Absolutely.
C. No.
D. Send it back to where purchased from if B doesn't work.

Thanks for the advice, I'll take a shot at un-kinking it by hand.

I wouldn't even worry about it.
The tire bead is exactly the right circumference to fit your rim's bead seat. As soon as you install it on a rim it'll un-kink itself.

yaeh on the it'll be ok answer. once on the rims and tire pumped up, it shouldn't even be noticable. just note that kinked section of the tire and make sure it beads up properly when being inflated. anything comes up, remove and return. but don't think you will need to.

I'd try to unkink it by hand, but if your bike is sitting in your house and you hear the gunshot sound of a tube blowing out, don't be surprised. You run a good chance at blowing tubes out if you use this tire. I'd take panther's advice and send it back.

I bent the beads as much as I could back into shape, and mounted and inflated the tire. No explosions yet! We'll see how the Monday commute goes.

As long as you didn't feel a real noticeable "kink", I think you'll be fine.
