Anyone interested in doing a night ride sometime? We would probably meet where 82 intersects the Valley Parkway and go on the parkway. And this would be sometime during the week. Drunks are not fun.

If I get off my butt to order some halfway decent lights, consider me in.

Okay. Looks like Tuesday night is going to be our best shot this week. We will probably leave around 7 and go for 30 or so miles. I'll come up with a route and be back soon.

Eh. Screw actually mapping out. How does 15 miles west/northwest on the Valley Parkway starting at the 82/Valley Parkway intersection sound? It's an out-and-back. No loop.

My posse is doing a ride out of Valley City tonight, Monday, @ 6:00 PM. Either a 30+ mile long rolling pace line on flat open country roads or going East into Granger/Hinkley area for some long hills. Riders will decide on which ride to do. Last week's group had 10 riders. We will meet in the parking area across from the Riverstone Tavern located in downtown Valley City on RT 303.

Accu Weather predicts 0% chance of snow/rain and very low UV's at 6:00 PM. No need for sun screen tonight. Winds will also decrease to 7mph from the SW. We'll be doing the pace line ride of 36 miles to the SW. My son requested the fast ride, since he is preparing for an Ironman in AZ this month, we'll pass on the hill ride tonight. I like to avoid pissing contest when it's below freezing anyway.:D

36 miles. 6 guys rode. Allegheny and his son, 747 aka Kurtis Blow aka hickeydog, j-money, and dave as well as myself.

It was cold. No hammerfest, but a nice brisk pace. All country roads that were flat and straight for the most part. Had some guiness and white pizza afterwards.

Rays tomorrow if anyones interested.

Had two "senior moments" on the ride. First one, was riding the first 7 miles and getting further and further into the red zone before I realized my rear tire was rubbing. When my son said "someone's bike is making a rubbing noise", that should have been a clue I picked up on! I got that resolved and it felt like I was riding down hill, then, at an intersection I cut in front of a car, because I was more worried about a buddy who got off the back due in part to the young gun's pissing contest over some rollers. Anytime I can get a weeknight ride of 36 miles this time of year is a good ride and looking forward to the next one.

A couple Great Lakes Brewery's Dortmunder Golds capped off a nice ride.

I have looked at that a few times. Looks like a great way to keep in shape but I don't know if I can OR want to be on a trainer for 2 hours at one sitting.

Thanks Scott. The class looks particularly interesting when they provide a beer after wards! Too bad it's on Thursdays, the Wed/Sat program I attend wipes us out and a day off is needed. I've attached a link to the the program we attended last winter. Greg and I are in the 2nd image, at the front, on the left side.

Gary,

The program we attended last year was for two hours per session. It's nothing at all like riding at home on a trainer just waiting for the time to pass while watching TV. I don't recall any time where it as anything but challenging and educational. I never looked at the clock out of boredom, we were always looking at cadence, HR, finishing an interval, easy pedaling, eating, drowning in sweat and dying. There are several different dynamics taking place at all times. I have done several trainer rides so far this fall and using some of the drills we did in the program the 1+ hours went fairly fast.

Hickeydog,

All those lights strapped to your bars reminded me of a fighter plane with rockets hanging under the wings ready to fire. Being redundant in the lighting department is not always a bad thing. Did your contact make it after the cell phone smash and gatorade bath?

Sadly no. I got it home and into solution, but it was too late to save it. And the $&#( optometrist isn't open today, so now my world is half fuzzy. It's a rather interesting experience.

My posse is riding on Tuesday night at 6:00 PM from the parking lot across from the Riverstone Tavern in Valley City. We will be going into Granger/Hinkley and doing some long roller hills to avoid the wind swept plains of Lorain/Medina counties. Last week we were graced by the presence of Hickeydog and nocondorfx. Ride is fairly fast with good seasoned riders. If you can bundle up and ride at 19+ mph for 30 miles this ride is for you. Temps will be around 33.

It's still snowing in Valley City at 12:45 PM. Tonight's ride for "skinny tired bikes" is off. Check out the Wednesday Lake Erie Wheeler ride if the weather provides dry roads tomorrow. I'll miss the ride this week as I'll be in PA to attend the next Stillers' Game. I'll attemp to set up a ride for next Monday or Tuesday depending on the weather.
