Surprised that this wasn't already mentioned, as he died a few days ago. Cancer, 66 years old. The Andromeda Strain was one of my favorites, and I loved ER for most of its run.

Read 'Binary' if you can find it. Excellent story, surprised it wasn't made into a movie. He first wrote it under a psuedem psu psoo another name IIRC.:D

He was a great writer and I love his stories. He definitely will be missed!
