Living Car Free - Even more car-lite

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Maybe it's been a stretch to call myself car-lite. I live alone, but have had two cars. They are both older, and paid off, but two cars for one person.
I changed that yesterday. I sold one of the cars. The remaining car can hopefully get me through another few years (with limited use) until I'm ready to be car-free.
Yes, I rode the 16.5 miles to work today, no, I don't do it everyday yet. I'm still just a fat guy.

In my opinion the number of cars or type does not matter. You can be car-lite even if you own 3 cars and 1 of them is a hummer - if you drive less than say 3,000 miles a year.
Maybe we need a pole to determine the amount of car use that people think is the threshold to being car-lite.

Well, at the rate I've been driving it in recent months, I guess I'd still be over 3000 miles per year. About 3400 actually.
I used to drive over 12,000 per year (including trips to Michigan), so I do drive much less.

We just had one (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=473365). It's too soon for another poll, IMO.
