So last year I put WTB Velociraptors on my Schwinn to get me through the winter, but they are heavy, slow and the rear is basically like having a square tire. This winter I want to try something different. All summer I have been using 26x1.5" slicks and they have been so great, but they won't work in the snow. What I am basically looking for is a 26" cyclocross tire. Something 1.5-1.8" and less than 550 grams with lower rolling resistance. I will only be using it on the roads and I might try a cyclocross race next year too. The roads here are plowed fairly well but have a rut or two.
I was looking at the Kenda Kwick (26x1.7"/445g) and Kwicker (26x1.95"/515g). Does anyone have any other tires that fit this description? Will these work well on lightly snowy roads? I am trying not to spend too much either. Thanks.
