i am looking to possibly get a different bike then what i have.

This is what i have: diamondback outlook Mountain Hardtail
(see link)

http://www.diamondback.com/bikes/mtn-hardtail/outlook-09/

the bike rides nice, i was going to swap the tires to a more road type of tires but not sure if that would change my ride or not.
i am a big guy 270 lbs. and like to ride!
i ride mostly roads, paved park trails, some hard packed dirt trails.
i like to stay away from those walmart bikes.

WHAT BIKE DO YOU RECOMMEND?

Swap tires, maybe install a ridgid fork, seat change, grip change, maybe some power grips on the pedals??

Id say you have what you need already to be honest, a few tweaks mentioned above and you sould be OK, and yes it will change the ride with some 1.5 tires, or at least something less agressive than the knobbies!!

I'm not sure what price range you're looking at.
My first 'real' bike was a Trek 7200. I would recommend it to anyone. I ended up switching to a Trek 7.3FX, but that's not the fault of the bike. I just wanted a different one :D

"Jamis Commuter" or one of the Breezer bikes.

or I would have a look at a touring bike.

A cross bike maybe? Or go the rigid fork & slicks route. If the bike's comfortable, the changes will lower weight and make it faster on the roads.
