Anybody out there own or ridden an Origin-8 frame? I'm looking at buying an Origin-8 Foxtrot cross frame (the only cx frame they make), but am unsure of quality compared to some of the more popular names. Since Origin-8 is exclusively wholesaled by J&B, they're pretty hard to find online. I've found one shop that sells the Foxtrot on the web -- NYCbikes (significantly cheaper, too, than having it ordered through a LBS... $550 compared to like $800 I think). I don't know if I should wait for one to pop up on eBay... Anyone?

I've got one that I'm building up right now. Haven't ridden it yet so I can't comment on the ride however. I'd imagine the quality is fine though and if not, there is a warranty. I couldn't really find any info on them before I bought it but I got a great deal on my frame (at the lbs) so I figured I would give it a shot.

Yeah it looks pretty solid especially with those carbon stays. Let me know how that works out for you. If you don't mind me asking, how good of deal were you able to get and from what shop?

does this bike have an extreme sloping top tube? Was looking at the geometry online and the seat tube size looks small for me but the top tube looks just right. So I can only assume that it has an extreme sloping top tube. On nycbikes they are like 600 shipped with fork which seems like a good deal. I was going to get a kona jake the snake for 400 but would be willing to spend the extra 2 bills for this frame and fork.

I also noticed that the seat tube was a bit low c-c, but I think the c-t size makes up for it. NYCBikes definitely has the lowest price around, but every so often I'll see people selling ones on eBay that go for $300, so I'm tempted to wait for a size L to pop up. FYI: newer generations of this frame have a built-in rear brake cable stop, older ones do not. Dunno about you, but I'd rather have one built in.

funny this thread is going again... after all that talk about the frame I started to look around. Found someone selling it on ebay and the price was a little high but they had make me an offer so I did and I got it 500 shipped. Got it brand new with the rear brake stop. Came with frame, full carbon fork, headset, and FD pulley. This is going to be a slow build for me as with xmas coming around. Yes the seat tubes seem a little short. I had to get the XL as I went by top tube length at it was 58cm when I usually ride a 57.5cm for the road bike. Will just cut the stem by 10mm.

So far have race face cadence cranks and 46cm handlebars on it. Egg beater C pedals. Just ordered a thomson seatpost and stem for it. Going to round it off with 09 sram rival. As this being my first cross bike I can not really compare it to any other cross bikes. I don't know if it is because I have the xl frame or if they make it this way but it has no sloping top tube so now compact frame geometry but standard.

Sorry I didn't reply earlier but I got the frame for $250. The shop said they had bought a couple framesets at a special price but had sold the fork separately to someone else. Complete it would have been $350. Since they didn't have the fork I got a new EC70x for a great price on ebay. I'm hoping to get my build done this weekend and I'll post pics when I can.

I am curious to hear how the ride is as well. I did look at buying one but was a little concerned that all the sizes used the same head tube and seat tube angles. I thick they are 74 degrees for both which I have'nt seen in a road frame let alone a cross frame.
Maybe it was a missprint.
