PS: Had to edit to put in the word Sunday. I don't ride down Bishop every morning, just Sundays.

You might have more people there if you were to tell everyone exactly where it's at, get notices in Craigslist, etc.

Fixed the link in the original post (http://bikefriendlyoc.wordpress.com/2008/11/05/bikefaire-on-bishop/). I'd like to but it's a bit far for me....40 miles each way. It would make an interesting ride but I need to work up to that kind of distance!

I suppose I could take public transit from Fort Worth to Dallas. I'd like to do that at some point but not this week.

Aha, didn't realize there WAS a link in the original post- thought that was just some sort of signature line down there.

Hey everyone,

The bike fair is going to be in the Bishop arts district at or very near the corner of Davis and Bishop.
If you take the TRE from Ft. Worth to Union Station in Downtown Dallas you're pretty close to Oak Cliff. Just head up Houston street and onto the Viaduct, Cross the river into Oak Cliff. When you get to Davis go right, it's down about a quarter of a mile.
Here's a link with some more info, sorry about the bad http address/thing earlier.

I hope to see you all there if you can make it. Bring some friends, bikes, an appetite. Fun for the entire family.
Thanks.

I may be interested in renting a booth. Can you send me some information please?

I brought my father and 3yo son to the event. It was small and my first bike fair experience so I have nothing to compare it to. I met a few folks, learned a thing or two and had a good time doing it. I wish there were more bikes and parts for sale but it was enjoyable just getting to see some bikes.

My dad grew up in that neighborhood 60 years ago so I learned a ton about the area from him. My Grandfather had a business machine store (adding machines) where that cowboy hat/boot store now presides. The neighborhood provides a good area to stroll with several cafes and shops and what not. Seems like a popular area for cyclists.

Count me in if you have any future events.

Chris

I drove over there and wasn't sure much of anything was going on. I saw the Dallas police van and looked like they were doing a kid's safety deal down there. And then there was a parking lot with two or three booths in it. And that was all I saw of a bike fair. Was there more to it somewhere?

My daughter and I drove over also, (I'm still nursing my bum knee). We saw the police setup but that was it.

On a side note, I was a delivery driver in Oak Cliff about 20 years ago and I haven't been to that area for a while. It was cool to see how it has changed.

Hi everyone,

I hope you all could make it out to the bike fair on Sunday. We had several vendors that no-showed, I apologize for that. The folks we did have (Dal-Tex frame builders, Spiral Diner, green energy) were super,
thanks for making it.

The next time we put one of these on we should have plenty more lead time to get more people involved.
We are thinking of incorporating it with one of the other Bishop Arts festivals or maybe part of Earth Day at Lake Cliff Park.

Once again thanks to everyone, hope you had fun.
