I just joined a few days ago! I live in Columbus, OH and just recently started cycling. My boyfriend (who is a long time cyclist) bought me a 2008 Specialized Dolce in the beginning of October. Riding it has been a great experience so far.
I was hit by a car on my first 10-speed when I was 10. I had been riding bikes since the age of 4, but that experience was pretty traumatic and took away all of my confidence I had on bicycles. I hadn't gotten on a bike in over 12 years, but that first ride I knew I was hooked all over again.
I've been on 6 rides, on a wonderful local trail, and have loved every minute in the saddle. I've been getting stronger and more confident with each ride. It's getting really cold here, so I'm hoping to take some spinning classes over the winter months!
