I've tried searching but not really sure the threads answer my question. The 305 has come down a lot in price. I don't really need a map and turn by turn directions while I'm riding. But, after a ride can you do this: ?

1. Upload to PC
2. And see your actual route on something like mapmyride or bikeroutetoaster or any of those mapping software websites?

I want to see my course after a ride (bikeroutetoaster does this google earth thing that is pretty cool)

thanks!

You can see it immediately in the provided software (Garmin Training Center), a much better share/free-ware Sporttracks (zonefivesoftware.com) and probably MotionBased, which is Garmin's online site, which I do not use. I use sporttracks - as long as you are connected to the internet you get a mashup with googlemaps displaying your track.

To get it into other applications, you have to export to .gpx and import the .gpx file for the route into the other application - and that's where my knowledge ends. I've done it a couple of times with google earth, i remember there were a few steps, but it does work.

That's awesome. I think the 705 is overkill for me.

Here's what SportTracks looks like - showing elevation profile. can also show summary, speed, heart rate, cadence. Map is zoom-able.

this is from my 305.

Yes to both questions.

What I have not been able to figure out is how to transfer laps (location) to sporttracks, or any of the other mapping software.
Anyone have success with this?

Cool! I know that area! I watched Lemond and Hinault race one of the stages of the Red Zinger back in '86 in Estes Park.
