Triathlon - Should I paint my new (used) Tri Bike?

I just purchased a new to me Tri bike from a pro/sponsored TT'er, sponsored by Health.Net. The bike is great, and I love it, but I feel a little self conscious sporting the health.net logo on the bike (along with the logos from the other sponsors). I am thinking about getting the bike disassembled and painted, but I am wondering if it would be harmful to the alum/carbon frame (base frame is a Cannondale slice 2007, which was alu/carbon mix), and if it would cost an exorbitant amount.

Any opinions?

No it would be totally fine for you to do that. I'm not sure about how much it would cost though, no idea.

Repainting your frame will not hurt it. The cost to repaint is based on how many colors you want. Check out different painters work and go from there. The two Zipps painted below both cost $500 by different painters. I've seen some very nice paint job for $150.

I say keep the stickers but if you want it painted I used a guy I found in Velonews, it cost me $150 to have my frame (Ti) painted and fork..2 weeks turn around...I forgot the :)name but he was great I called him up we chatted then I sent it down via UPS...I used a sweet metalic Orange. Good luck

I have an earlier Cannondale Multi-Sport that came with a paint job I liked.

Are those decals under the clearcoat? If not I'd just use a hair dryer to remove them or I'd try wet sanding them. I wouldn't waste the money to repaint.

I'd put that money toward some decent race wheels. Paint don't make you faster.

Well I think the bike looks pretty good. The sponsor decals make the bike unique. Why not leave it? It is no more garish than alot of other bikes. After you win some tris, people will remember you. Heck you might even get to sell new sponsorships!

Well, as a Christmas present, my wife paid for my bike to get painted, so I figured I would follow up since I just got it back from the painters and put back together. Now to get the fit right.

I just changed out the extensions, not the whole handlebar setup. Anyways, I do have the original extensions, they are AL S bends. Do you want them?
