I will be attending the tour of Georgia in April. I will see the finish of Stage 5, Stage 6 atop Brasstown Bald, and the start of the final stage 7. I was wondering whats the best place for an autograph. Hopefully I can get Lance but any others are good to. Also what can i expect i will watch and the the finish line and start line. Any pointers to meet some of the riders and where the best place to hang out would be appreciated from anyone who has watched races in person before.

Best place to get autographs is at the start area. Preferrably near the team busses/motorhomes/vans or at the sign-in area. But good luck with Lance. You will have to be in the right place at the right time.

I got Lance's autograph a couple weeks after he won the worlds. He signed a pic of his in Velo News.
I wish I could find it.
Yep, right at the start when they register for the start of the race. They should have a booklet that the races give you. Take that and a black pen and go stand behind the gates just by the place where the riders sign in and start screaming the names of the people as they register. Hopefully, some of them will come over and autograph your brochure. I got a crapload of autographs for the Giro that way.

oooooh....best place to be in for an autograph...i thought maybe you meant best place on a bike for an autograph...if that was the case i'd vote top tube, right where it joins the seat tube...or on the top of the down tube right up by the headtube, that way you can look at it while you're riding!! ;)
but yeah, i'd say at the start...although riders may want to focus on riding a good race, so maybe the finish would be good too...but then they might be tired and irritated if they didn't ride well enough or something. you'll be there for both a start AND a finish, so try both and see what works out best!

I don't think any racer would want to sign autographs after a stage end, would they? I doubt I would.
Yeah. I've been to the finish line of races. Everyone's bum rushing the riders, and the riders are just trying to get the heck out of there, plus they have to announce the winners and go through the whole ceremony, plus it seemed like the photographers and news folks were crazier at the finish than at the start. Do it at the beginning of the race, not the end.
