Well, it has been a bit blustery here the last few days. I've been wanting to take some pics of my new off road riding area. Today could have been better, this time of year, about 50 and sunny and no wind.

The area I'm riding in offers plenty of variety. There is a paved path nearby, but you miss some scenery if riding there. There are a few parts on this ride where I had to dismount and walk the bike, but I did ride areas I walked last time:thumb: I may have gotten carried away with the photography:p

Note trail narrows and degree of difficulty increases. Trail is between arrows. For you roadies that are still reading this, the arrows aren't really there I added them:lol:

Time for a snack and drink while enjoying the view. That is the trail just to the left.

What trail is that and how far does it go? I'm just on the other side of the state, and if that's a long trail it might be worth a weekend to head out there with some fatty tires on my Cross Check.

It is part of the Riverside State Park. The distance part is hard to say. The trail right along the river is probably 9 or 10 miles right along the river, but there are miles of trails in the area where you can loop around and ride. I would say over a weekend you could ride both days and not have to cross your path too many times. The paved trail, is 36 miles long to the WA border then 17 or so into Idaho if you want a road ride. I'm just learning the off-road riding, but if you do come this way PM me and I will try to get to ride with you or at least provide you with more info.

Dude, you rode about a mile and had a snack? c'mon!

BTW, great pix! I lived in Spokane at one time. I miss it at times. Have ex-in-laws up in Newport, WA/Oldtown, ID.

I have an irrational fear of suspension bridges, wooden bridges, and any unkempt looking bridges (not that your bridge looks unkempt, simply horrifying)... really, I only appreciate those nice concrete and iron bridges. Otherwise these two pictures made me feel faint and woozy. I may need to take deep breaths in a paper bag...

If I walked across that bridge I'd require a rosary, holy water, and a comfortable spot on the other side to comfort myself by rocking to and fro.

Looks cool (terrifying, but cool)!

:thumb: I have fished that area a few times and it is a really great environment, though dangerous to wade. And for the roadly inclinded the Spokane River on the other side of town has a very nice riding trail that goes way over into Idaho. I took these pics in July. (Right now 50 degrees, sunny and no wind sounds like freakin paradise to me FYI!)

Then ignore this 'bridge' over the Schuylkill River at Valley Forge.

I think your winning lottery ticket is with mine, because it sure as heck hasn't been near me :notamused:

That suspension bridge brings back a memory.

I was driving up the Cache de la Poudre river valley northwest of Ft Collins, CO. It's a nice 2-lane paved highway, winding in places, but otherwise okay.

So as I'm driving along, I see this suspension footbridge across the river. Neat little bridge, maybe 1/3 the size of the one in your picture. So I pulled the carr off the road on the right, parked it beside the highway, and walked to the other side of the road and up a ways to take pictures of the bridge.

Just then, I glanced back around and saw my car was slowly rolling backwards, across the road, and headed for the river. Arrrgh! So I got to do some sprinting in my hiking boots. For a bit, I thought the car was a goner, but I managed to get to it and get it stopped in time.

Wouldn't have bothered me a lot to lose that car (it was well past its prime), but I sure hated the idea of a having to pay a tow truck to drag it out of the river.
