now that the weathers nice, ive been venturing further and further with my track bike. and getting rather thirsty. any suggestions on a solution to carrying water on a bike (not on my back) without bottle cage bosses? i would like something that attahes to the seatpost, but that i can take off easily. i like to keep my bike looking clean most of the time. i found the "Profile Design - Aqua Rack" but i am inclined to think it is junk...

I know you said you don't want anything on your back, but what I use on the hree Track bikes that I run without bottle bosses is a regular bottled water bottle carried in the center pocket of my bike jersey. I am talking about the purchased bottled water bottle like Asanti or some such, not the bicycle water bottle type of bottle. The purchased water bottle is smaller around that the normal bicycle cage water bottle and is less evident that there is anything back there when full. I just got back from a 70 mile ride yesterday and had no problem with it. The left rear pocket carries my tubes/toolkit and the right rear carries a rolled up rain jacket/money/keys stash and I am good to go for a cleen bike look. I have tried one of those Tri type rear seat mount but I found it less accessible that what I use. You may find differently though.

I carry a flask in my center jersey pocket. It carries enough water between convinient store stops.
