I just picked up a bottle of Hammer Endurolytes. They are said to replace electrolytes lost while exercising. I thought they might be a good alternative to mixing Gatorade 50/50 with my water to avoid some of the sugar. I think I will dissolve them in my water bottle.
They are made up of 100 mg sodium chloride, 50 mg calcium, 25 mg magnesium, 25 mg potassium, 6.6 mg vitamin B-6, 1.6 mg manganese, and 50 mg L-Tyrosine. The bottle says take 1-3 per hour of exercise in hot weather. I plan on taking one tablet dissolved in water for each 2 hours.
Has anyone used Hammer Endurolytes, know anything about them, or have any comments?
Thanks.

No experience, but it sure sounds like the most complete electrolyte replacement. Looks like a good recipe to prevent cramps, too. Especially for a long, hot ride. Let us know you opinion.
Yes, I use them all the time as I really like just plain water in my bottles. I put a couple in a plasitic bag and swallow them when I can. They seem to work very well.
I use them, started after cramping really bad at HHH 2 years ago they work well.
I don't think I'd disolve them in water, probably tastes really nasty. I mean I really
don't want to swill salt water when I'm thirsty/hot on the bike.
Its not that difficult to take a few in a baggie and just pop it when you need to.

You still need water. Get another water bottle. One for water, one for full strength Gatorade or whatever you prefer.

Where did you buy them?

I got them from my LBS where I used to live. Bicycles Inc in Keller, Texas.
The bottle shows a web site www.hammernutrition.com. When you go there, it transfers you to www.e-caps.com. There is an order page where you can buy them for about 2/3 the price I paid. It also has a dealer locator. There is quite a bit on the site.

Just ordered from the web site for total of 24.95. Shipping was 7.00 Oh, well, wanted to try it, and this was easier than driving 30 miles round trip for nearest dealer. Cramps have hounded me for the last coup-le years. Hope this helps.
Thanks mucho!
I use Endurolytes on all my rides. I tend to dehydrate very quickly and lose a lot of salt, especially in hot weather. I would get cramps and headaches when I do a hard ride. But since I started using Endurolytes, my legs rarely cramp up and I rarely get headaches now. They work well for me and when the weather is hot and dry I make sure I carry plenty of them on my rides. I use the capsules which I carry in a plastic coin purse that I got for free when I ordered the Endurolytes directly thru E-Caps. I take a capsule every half-hour or so, depending on how much I sweat.
I also use "Sustained Energy" (a liquid carbohydrate). With that and the Endurolytes, I don't need any of the sports drinks (many of which are made with fructose/corn syrup).
E-Caps make good products, but they are a little expensive. Sometimes they have special sales and that's when I load up on the Endurolytes and Sustained Energy.
