Commuting - Studded Tires

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm looking to get a pair of the Marathon Winters, but I noticed the smallest size they have is 35mm. Will this be ok on my Mavic Ksyriums? I'm running 30mm's right now no problem, but I'm not sure what that extra 5mm will do. Thanks
it'll be fine. I ran 35c nokians on CXP33 and CXP21 last year and had no issues.

They'll be fine. Just visit any cyclocross race and look at what they're running on rims similar in size to yours.
I've run 1.9" tires, and even 2.2" tires, on rims narrower than your Ksyriums, incidentally (Matrix Mt. Aero).

you can also take a look at the Nokian A10s, which are rated at 32mm, but Peter White measures them at roughly 29mm. check out: http://www.peterwhitecycles.com/studdedtires.asp
they have fewer studs than the Schwalbes, but Nokians are excellent tires... those Finns know winter.
