Texas - Best off road trails?

I don't know but what some of the neatest riding might not be the backroads of Big Bend. They're not bicycle trails particularly, though.
Here locally, the Rowlett Creek Preserve and the Northshore Trail are the two busiest ones I know of. But I can't imagine that they'd be worth driving from Houston to go on, either.

also look up chuck cypert's book, mountain biking texas and oklahoma. not sure if it's still in print.

It kinda depends, what part of the state do you want to ride in, Excellent trails in Palo Duro Canyon, and most every large town has a trail system. Big Bend area has several areas. Give us a hint.

CPlue: From Houston, Rocky Hill Ranch, Warda's bluff creek ranch, and Double Lake are your best bets.
