Journey to the "Wailing Wall"
http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa292/taxi777/MissionAcomplished.jpg
Our warrior princess was safely ushered to the battlefront by the NorCal Gladiator league and returned with honor and commendations to her palace in the Kingdom of San Mateo. Ruth was "Ruthless" against her opponent, the infamous "Marshall Wall" Led by the lieutenants Marcus, Ramon and general Taxirius. The contingent of newly acquired gladiators escorted my the Night and Nobleman Sir Ron escorted the band of hearty soldiers to the edge of the "Dark Lands" where they promptly were discharged back to their fiefdoms. Unfortunately succumbing to a witches spell en route and becoming frighteningly lost!

That was some of the best riding I've ever experienced in my life. I started the day with just the thought that I would love to spend just a whole day on my bike. My wish would be granted and more!
I enjoyed meeting some of the newcomers along with the brand newcomers; Justin and Pete.
Chris and Micheal showed up again and I met a NorCal lurker riding with an Eastbay contingent, so not able to ride with us today.

The weather was just unbelievable and clear skies beyond the imagination! We got kind of a late start which would come back to haunt us later. I took the Trek today and with all the work I had done on it this week, I felt as though I was pedaling effortlessly. I had put together a new drink concoction that seemed to work really, really well. No bonk at all.
http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa292/taxi777/riceprotein.jpg
Water-bottle filled 1/2 with water, 1 lg Tablespoon of Rice Protein. The rest topped off with chocolate Soy and pure coffee. In between those I would have a bottle with 1 nuunz tablet. It was like I was 10 years younger...Even was really randy with the ladies today : )

Justin was a hoot, much like his pesonna that comes across on the forum. I was nice to meet him and ride with him. He decided to do Corte Madera grade twice! I saw him coming back down for more while I was ascending with the late group.
I met Pete (not me; another Pete, Justins friend) at "Velo Rouge Cafe". I was in kind of a flirty mood with some woman there, so he got a taste of how Obnoxious I can be right away!

Ramon was kicking my butt up the climbs as usual, but I need the work out...It's starting to pay off! I had some of the best cruising with the Tamdem. I some points I would feel almost like I was on a triple tandem, which was a lot of fun and almost an effortless cadence. We stopped and ate lunch at the cheese factory. I could have ended the day there but we really needed to get Ruth to the wall. At that point I had one of the best cruises behind a tandem I'd ever had!
Marco and Ruth did a great job up the wall and were rewarded with a pretty magnificant view! The descent was fast and scary! I hit 47mph! Marco & Ruth topped at 52!!!! Tomales bay was a great run with a stop in Pt. Reyes for coffee and pastries...
This was the only time during the ride that I started feeling a little rough...It was getting a little cold along the water and I wasn't really that prepared for it. We rode through Samual P. Taylor Park and darkness was closing in on us pretty quick, but it was really peaceful, relaxing and I was feeling good. I like this time, when my mind starts to wander and I feel at peace.
The long stretch back on Sir Francis Drake was a bit arduous, but we ended up stopping at the Fairfax bike shop so Ramon could get some toe covers. It was now completely dark and we headed back through Ross which was a little cold and I was wishing I had brought my arm warmers. My bike was feeling great and I think I was getting a second wind at this point.
We got ahead of Marco and Ruth going up Corte Madera grade and It was pretty scary. Neither Ramon nor I had brought lights! I had left them with my arm warmers thinking I wouldn't need them! DOH! On the way down I kept behind someone and was able to follow the road by the light of their tailights, a bit sketchy, but it work. Another guy had slowly stayed behind Ramon and knew that he didn't have lights so he guided him down. I thought that was pretty cool. I said to the guy "thanks, we hadn't expected to run out of light!"
We stopped at a gas station and got a little food. Ramon was feeling a little bonky and waited for M&R Tandem.
Riding along the bike path was the best part believe it or not. That's when I caught the "wave." That perfect time we all ride a bike for, when everything comes into sync. The time when that elusive word we are finally able to use comes upon " H.A.P.P.I.N.E.S.S." We were riding off of M&R's head light and my mind started to float peacefully back to when I was a kid...I remember being in the back seat of the family car and looking out the front window at the light hitting the trees and everyone was happy and talking...the feeling of perpetual movement. I wasn't tired and I just disconnected from my body and let it do it's thing. I felt as if I could just close my eyes and sleep right then...I think I started saying KOO KOO stuff to those guys, but that's ok cause they love me and they're are use to it and I love them...They make me happy like back when I was a kid in that car...What a beautiful day I had today, I'm so glad to be alive!

We had to go back on the oppisite side of the bridge cause it was after dark and I think Ramon's carbs kicked in so he started to time trial like a friggin maniac! He cracks me up sometimes.
Well we made it back safely and I was really proud of Ruth, she has done so much amazing stuff in the short time I've known her, so I decided this would be the Ruth ride. I hope we can get some more Cheetahs out here riding with us...
I got home to a menu of home cooked "Lemon chicken, Gnocci and Eggplat Parmesan...Pretty damn good end to a day on my bike.

I had trouble sleeping, so I'm up and the smell of "Blood Sport" is in the air! As the Gods nervously await the mighty gladiators to slaughter the climbs and deliver their sacrifices at their alter!
