Southern California - Looking For Riding Partner or Group in PV/Torrance

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I am looking for someone to ride with or a group in th PV and Torrance area, mostly during the week but some weekends. I am not fast but I am not too slow. Usually I ride along the strand for a 15 mile warm up and then into PV for a few hills and about 15-20 miles. I like to ride Via Del Monte and around the section of the Hill. I am free most times of the day.

There's a couple groups you may be interested in.
Beach Cities Cycling Club is usually a very mellow social pace. If you've never ridden in a group I recommend you ride with them first. Saturday is their faster rides, which aren't too fast at all and they have a no drop policy. Sundays are their very calm rides and usually don't go up to PV at all.

If you have ridden with a group and you want something a little less social and a bit quicker, every Saturday at 7am at the Malaga Cove Plaza there is the Doctor Ride. They usually do the standard loop of PV, head to PV Drive West, which turns into PV Drive South, climb up the switchbacks on PV Drive East, descend down to PV Drive North and head back to the Plaza.
Sometimes they'll head to San Pedro instead of taking the switchbacks up, sometimes they'll head up Crest Road by Marymount College for a bit more climbing after coming up the switchbacks.
As for me, I'm not leaving this house until that ash clears up. My lungs are hurting and I have a headache.

The one in Palos Verdes was small, the ash really didn't come from that one. The ash is coming from the other huge fires going on in California. It's going to be some time before all this ash clears up.
Here's the one in Palos Verdes, I didn't actually see it though.
