Cyclocross - favorite ISIS BB?

I killed my isis bottom bracket two weekends ago racing in the mud. It's on my commuter, and the crunching is driving me nuts. Is there a go-to brand or bracket for people on this forum?

There aren't going to be many muddy races around here, but I'll be taking this thing out as a rain bike most likely. That said -- I don't mind repacking a BB if it saves me buying a new one every time it gets wet.

i just picked up a crank bro's isis bb the cyan i believe? anyhoo im hoping it will be pretty solid but most of their stuff usually is.

before I spend $90, I want to make sure it'll hold up to the rain. Any other suggestions?

i have an older shimano isis bb that i could send you for pretty cheap + shipping...it has probably 2500 miles on it but it would be your cheapest option. it is sealed and there is no play in it, i only took it out because i went to a gxp force crank on my road bike.

The Nashbar one is quite ok. Maybe you'll have to replace it sooner, maybe not. At least, it's way cheaper than others.

I have a regular Platinum Pro on my cross bike and it's been going fine for over two years. The basic truvativ ISIS has also been good to me. Don't get the Ti version of any ISIS BBs - not worth it and tend to go wrong way quicker.

I've had good luck with Race Face Evolve ISIS bb's in my downhill/freeride mtbs over the years. Two bearings on the drive side helps them last a bit longer, I think. You should know, however, that ISIS bb's have one of the shorter lifespans in bb world. Be prepared to replace them a bit more often than a square taper or external bb. That said, though, you should be able to get several thousand miles out of a good ISIS bb.

I've been using the Taiwanese TH / Nashbar / rebranded-by-whomever cheap ones and replacing every two years of so.

My thinking is that with the abuse these things get on cross and mountain bikes that's the way to go.

I swore I'd never use an ISIS or Octalink BB until a nice RaceFace crankset fell into my lap. I got a Crank Bro's Cobalt and have been using on a singlespeed MTB all season with no problems. Like the RF Evolve it has double sealed bearings on the drive side.

seems like a good deal, but the spindle is a little long as this may be designed for a triple. I just have an isis in my fixed gear and I dont really think much about it.
