Hello i have been interested in trying out cyclocross. I need some advice in building one of these bikes.... I am going to put my road bikes components into the ne cross frame; but what kind of brake sets are good? Also what wheelset is good to start? I do not want nothing fancy for the moment since i want to try it out. Was thinkin of puttin a mavic cosmic wheelset from my road bike just putting fatter tires.... Will that work? Since road wheels are very fragile and easy ti untrue.

I see no problem with using your road wheels on your cross bike. My wife just ordered me a set Mavic Open Pros with Ultegra hubs for under $300 from bicyclewheelwarehouse.com...
As far as brakes, I really like the Tektro CR 720s I got on my Salsa and they were pretty cheap... If you get into cross you can opt for some TRPs or Pauls, if you got the $$$.
Good Luck,
Chris

Which ones did you go with 32 spoke front and back?

^ I got these http://www.bicyclewheelwarehouse.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=37
I really wanted to go with the revolution spokes, but the more I read about them, the realiablilty of the stonger comp spokes more than makes up for the marginal weight savings.

why stop at 32, I broke a spoke on my 36 spoke front wheel, it didn't even go out of true.
